Meet the Meadows
Lisa and Gene purchased their home in Murphy North Carolina in 2019 while living in Lahaina, Hawaii. Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, the couple fell in love with the charm and warmth of Western North Carolina—and especially the welcoming community they met during their visits to Murphy.
In 2020, Lisa began working remotely from Murphy for her Hawaii based company. But everything changed on August 8, 2023, when devastating wildfires struck the island. The fires cost Lisa her job—but also reignited her passion for entrepreneurship and creativity.
Motivated by that turning point, Lisa and Gene found a beautiful space in the heart of the downtown Murphy historic district. In November 2023, they purchased and rebranded an existing business into what is now Indigo Mountain Traders—named after their precious granddaughter, Indigo Moon.
Our Vision
At Indigo Mountain Traders, Lisa and Gene have created more than a store—it’s a mountain-inspired experience. Their vision is to bring together talented local artists and crafters while curating one-of-a-kind goods from American-based companies that give back to their communities.
